A South Australian wedding with a sentimental twist, published on The Bridal Journey

Words from Together Journal Issue 42

We met at a nightclub called Loverboy on my 22nd birthday. I remember immediately thinking Jacob was extremely handsome, with great eyes, and someone who could actually hold a conversation. Years later, not much has changed. We have built a life together centred around travelling, cooking together, discovering great restaurants, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. When we're not working, you'll usually find us planning our next trip or soaking up the sunshine at the beach.

Our wedding was inspired by a romantic Mediterranean feel: warm, relaxed, and elegant without ever being overly formal, with natural textures, soft florals, and candlelight. The venue played a huge role in creating the overall aesthetic we were after. It provided the perfect backdrop and really set the tone for the day.

One of our favourite details was the serpentine tables which wove through the reception space, creating a sense of movement and closeness between our guests. Together with the unstructured florals, the entire setting felt organic, modern, and beautifully relaxed. We loved discovering during the planning process just how creatively aligned we are. It was really special to realise we both loved the same style and wanted the same overall feel for the day.

Our biggest advice for couples starting to plan their wedding is to invest in a planner and a stylist. We genuinely couldn't have pulled everything together in such a short timeframe without them. Our stylist, photographer, and videographer also captured the emotion and energy of the day perfectly. Every photo and video is just incredible.

Food, music, and photography were always going to be the heart of our celebration. We wanted the food to not only taste amazing but be something people would remember long after the day. Alongside incredible food came a packed dance floor, thanks to a DJ and saxophonist duo who kept the energy high all night long.

Another standout part of the planning process was having my gown custom-made by Greta Kate. She made the entire process feel so easy, enjoyable, and truly special, from the moment we met. Her calm energy and kindness made every appointment something I looked forward to.

There were so many memorable moments, but a few stand out: dancing with our parents was deeply meaningful. And ending the night by spontaneously jumping into the pool fully dressed perfectly captured the spirit of the day: joyful, carefree, and full of love.
