Connor Rozee marries Maisie Packer in a backyard wedding at the Packer private residence, infront of their family and friends
Words from Elle Australia
Some love stories unfold in grand gestures, others in quieter moments: like the kind you find during lockdowns, over endless games of Scrabble. For Maisie Packer and Connor Rozee, it all began in the depths of the pandemic, when a mutual friend introduced them and the world slowed down just enough for an “immediate” best friendship to bloom into something more. Four years later, they have welcomed their daughter Audrey and celebrated their marriage in a deeply personal ceremony at the bride’s family home, the same garden where Connor proposed.
From the very beginning, the vision was clear: something timeless, elegant, and utterly them. With the help of local creatives (and a few talented family members), they brought that dream to life in a celebration rich with meaning .Think David Austin roses, thoughtfully curated details, and music that moved everyone present. The bride wore a romantic lace gown by Anna Campbell — with a matching mini for Audrey — and the day unfolded like a modern fairy tale with an Australian heart.
When and where did you meet?
Connor and I met through a mutual friend about four years ago, in the depths of the pandemic. We instantly became best friends, and got very used to spending everyday together in true pandemic style – hanging out at home and playing Scrabble. Fast forward four years, and we welcomed our daughter Audrey Sarah Rozee, and got married in the same year. It’s been a very exciting twelve months.
Tell us about your engagement ring?
Connor organised the whole thing as a beautiful surprise. He had the help from my mum, and Class A Jewellers and they created the most perfect ring. Mum and Connor roughly knew what my dream ring was, and they absolutely nailed it. Class A also created our wedding bands, and supplied some beautiful jewellery for my wedding day.
Did you have a vision for your wedding from the get-go?
We just always wanted a classic, elegant and authentic wedding. We just wanted it to feel like us, and for it to be very relaxed with good times and good food around all our loved ones. Evie from Evebud absolutely nailed the vision, she created a Pinterest board and we worked together to create the whole vibe of the ceremony and reception space. She used local David Austin roses, campanuelas, hydgangeas, carnations, lisianthus and delphiniums, and describes the vibe of her floral styling as “classic, Lake Como but with a Modern-Australian twist”. As the wedding ceremony was being held in mum’s garden, we wanted to make sure the flowers used really complimented the beauty that was already there.
How did you choose your location?
My parents house is my favourite place in the world and a very special place for Connor and I. We knew it was the perfect location. We have so many special memories here, including Connor proposing in these very same gardens, and my mum, Sarah, is so passionate about these gardens and has put so much work into it. My older sister, Winnie, got married on our family property about one year before we got to, so to have had two weddings here has been so special.
What were the most important elements for you, as a couple?
I think music was a big one, and Behind the Veil absolutely nailed it. Also, we just wanted to make the day feel as natural as possible and for the guests to feel as comfortable as we did! The photography was also a big one, and Stacey McLean did an incredible job, capturing the day so perfectly. The florals were another super important element. As the wedding was in the garden, we wanted the flowers to complement mum’s beautiful garden. Evebud did an exceptional job, and it was everything I had hoped for and more!
